Kendriya Vidyalaya Maithon Dam is actively involved in the Scouting and Guiding Movement It has three trained Scout Masters, Two Guide Captains, 124 Scouts, 43 Guides, 32 Cubs and 16 Bulbuls.

The Cubs-Bulbul Utsav for the KV's under Dhanbad Cluster was held at Kendriya Vidyalaya Maithon Dam on 8th November 2008. Cubs and Bulbuls from Kendriya Vidyalaya Gomoh, Jamtara, No.1 Dhanbad, No.2 Dhanbad, Madhupur, Godda, Singharsi and Maithon Dam participated in the Utsav.  The Utsav was a great success.
