Kendriya Vidyalaya Maithon Dam came into existence in 1985 under the sponsorship of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). It is located in the picturesque township of DVC near the bank of Barakar river, over which the Maithon Dam is constructed in 1957 for the generation of Hydroelectricity.

KV Maithon Dam has a permanent A-1 type four-storied building constructed by DVC which houses students from Class I to XII.
